Africa’s rapidly growing population and expanding economies are driving strong demand for trucks, creating significant opportunities for international suppliers. As infrastructure projects, construction, and logistics networks continue to grow, the demand for new and used trucks across the continent is rising steadily. africon works on more than 40 projects across Africa each year, many of which focus on the automotive sector.
In a recent project for a large German automotive company africon analysed truck import patterns across key African markets. The findings revealed that Morocco, Egypt, and South Africa import most of their trucks from Europe, driven by their developed transport sectors and preference for high-quality, durable vehicles. In contrast, Chinese trucks dominate in West and East Africa, where competitive pricing and flexible financing make them particularly attractive.
africon provided the client with a comprehensive market assessment and strategic recommendations to identify high-potential markets and partnerships across the continent. We tailor such intelligence to support companies in market prioritisation and strategic planning.
